Barcelona’s 16-year-old jewel rejected Juventus’ lucrative €20 million contract offer | OneFootball

Toni Fernandez was one of the many young talents who got an opportunity to do the pre-season with the Barcelona first team this summer under the watchful eye of Hansi Flick.

The 16-year-old made the most of the handful of opportunities he received and has earned the full confidence of the manager, even though he will return to playing for Barça Atletic this season.

Toni Fernandez turned down Juventus

Having turned 16 years old last month, Toni Fernandez signed his first professional contract with Barcelona, committing to the club for three more years until 2027.

However, the youngster could have easily switched clubs as there were several top teams interested in acquiring his services.

One such club that tried to lure him away from Barcelona are Juventus, with Mas Que Pelotas reporting that the Italian giants tabled a juicy contract offer for Fernandez.

Indeed, Juventus are understood to have approached the 16-year-old forward’s entourage with a very lucrative proposal as they offered him a four-year deal worth €20 million.

As per the report, the Bianconeri’s proposal came to the youngster’s doorstep on two occasions – first before he signed his new contract with Barcelona and once more after his renewal until 2027 was announced.

However, on both occasions, Toni Fernandez and his entourage turned down Juventus, making it clear that the youngster is happy at Barcelona and intends to continue.

One of the most promising young talents at the club, along with his cousin Guille, Toni Fernandez is tipped for a bright future.

With Hansi Flick already being impressed by the youngster and closely tracking his progress, an official first-team debut might not be very far away for him.
