A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will be forced under the knife next week.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Dani Rodríguez as the player in question.
Youngster Rodríguez, for his part, is fresh off something of a whirlwind weekend in Catalunya’s capital.
After first being afforded a place in Barcelona’s senior squad to face Real Valladolid in La Liga, the 19-year-old was then afforded his debut from the off at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
What began as something of a dream evening for Rodríguez, however, soon took a turn for the worse.
Late in the first-half, the talented winger went to ground clutching his shoulder, before swiftly being hauled off whilst making use of a temporary sling.
Ensuing scans confirmed that Rodríguez had suffered an acute dislocation of his right shoulder.
Murmurs, in turn, spread that the youngster could require surgery, bringing an end to not only his campaign, but pre-season prospects, too.
And as alluded to above, unfortunately for Rodríguez, as much has on Thursday been confirmed.
As per a report from MD:
‘The winger will need surgery for the injury at the end of next week. After consulting with specialists, the Basque striker will undergo surgery in San Sebastián.’
Rodríguez is expected to be sidelined for a period of between two and three months.
