Like the summer of 2024, Barcelona’s pre-season tour ahead of the 2025/26 season is once again shining a light on La Masia talents, and this time, Toni Fernandez is the one making the noise.
While Roony Bardghji, Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández, and Jofre Torrents have so far grabbed the headlines, Toni has worked quietly but impressively under the radar, sending a strong message to Hansi Flick regarding first-team chances, reports SPORT.
It is to be noted that in the friendly against FC Seoul, he came on in the 78th minute and made an immediate impact.
Despite limited time, he displayed fearlessness, sharp decision-making, and technical precision. He even came close to scoring twice and completed every pass, ending with a 100% pass success rate.
Hansi Flick appears to be managing these young stars with care. Just like he did with Dro, offering prominence, then shielding him after his goal against Vissel Kobe, he is taking a similar approach with Toni.

The youngster already made his official debut in January in the Copa del Rey against Barbastro at just 16. In that match, he came on for Pablo Torre and played as a right winger. Since then, he has earned five more call-ups, though without additional minutes.
Determined to take the next step, Toni prepared independently this summer. The club assured him a spot on the tour, and Flick stayed true to that promise. Even with the arrival of Bardghji, Flick’s stance is clear: readiness earns opportunity.
The fight for a place on the wings is intense, but Toni has made his intentions clear. Just 17, he is aiming to become a regular in the first-team setup, while still featuring for Barça Atletic.
With his confidence, talent and determination, Toni Fernandez is pushing hard and forcing Flick into some difficult decisions. Once again, La Masia refuses to be silenced.
