Barcelona to pocket €130 million

Indeed, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will be pocketing a hefty sum of €130 million in La Liga TV rights money courtesy of their second-place finish.

La Liga is expected to distribute around €1.5 billion for television rights this season. Of that total, 8.5% (about 127 million) is given as support to non-professional football and other sporting disciplines.

The remainder, around €1373 million is divided into two parts. Of the first 50%, some €750 million, the 20 teams will receive a fixed income of around €37.5 million. This amount is independent of their final position in the league table.

But the remaining part (some €623 million) is distributed on a percentage basis according to the final position of each team in the table.

Real Madrid, as champions and adding the fixed income plus the percentage of 17%, will receive around €143 million.

The second highest earners will be FC Barcelona for their runner-up finish in the league. In their case, they will receive the fixed income of €37.5 million plus 15%. This means around €130 million for the Catalans.
