Barcelona’s transfer activity remains relentless. Despite the collapse of the Nico Williams deal, the club continues to scout promising young talent before their value soars beyond reach.
In that context, Barça are on the verge of completing the signing of Lovro Chelfi, as first reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Chelfi is a versatile attacking midfielder, just 18 years old, currently playing for NK Kustosija in Croatia.
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona will pay approximately €300,000 to Kustosija in exchange for 50% of Chelfi’s rights.
If the youngster lives up to expectations, Barça will consider buying the remaining 50% rights from the Croatian club, for which they retain a two-year option. In that scenario, the total cost of the operation could rise to €2 million.
As confirmed previously, Chelfi will join Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atletic squad initially, and his salary will fall within the club’s established wage structure.
The Blaugrana have also arranged housing for the player near the Ciutat Esportiva to ensure he is well integrated and close to the training facilities.
This move reflects Barcelona’s ongoing strategy of securing emerging talents early, staying ahead of the competition – an approach that, so far, is proving effective.
With the departure of players like Noah Darvich and Aleix Garrido, the signing of Chelfi should help fill the gap in the attacking midfield department in the reserve team.
