Barcelona’s summer transfer window is shaping up to be a careful balancing act between ambition and financial restraint.
The club has identified Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as a top target to strengthen the left flank under new manager Hansi Flick.
However, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Colombian star will not be wearing the Blaugrana shirt next season unless a major sale is completed in the coming weeks.
Diaz, who recently dropped a subtle hint by following Barcelona on social media, is valued at €80 million by Liverpool. The Catalan club, however, are unwilling to offer more than €60 million for the 28-year-old attacker.
While Diaz, who scored 17 goals and eight assists last season, is not in Liverpool’s long-term plans and the English club are open to cashing in while his value remains high, they are not prepared to lower their asking price.
This has left Barcelona in a familiar situation: needing to sell before they can buy.
Interestingly, among the most notable names likely to leave is Ansu Fati, who has approved a move to Monaco. Pablo Torre is also set to be put on the market, with the club open to both a loan or permanent departure.

Goalkeeper Inaki Pena could terminate his contract if no attractive offer arrives, while Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s future is being monitored closely.
Although selling the German is not a priority, Barcelona have not ruled out his exit if a favourable offer arrives late in the window.
Furthermore, the club could consider parting ways with either Ronald Araújo or Andreas Christensen, depending on the market situation and potential bids.
The urgency of selling players is not only tied to the pursuit of Diaz. Barcelona’s transfer plans have been shaped by ongoing financial limitations, which have forced the club to explore lower-cost alternatives.
One such move could see Ivan Perisic arrive on a free transfer. The Croatian, who previously worked with Flick at Bayern Munich, is seen as a cost-effective solution who can offer experience, tactical versatility, and leadership.
His arrival would reduce the need to spend heavily on a profile like Diaz, although it will come at a cost of longevity.
