Among all the players Barcelona loaned out this past summer, Clement Lenglet has perhaps impressed the most.

After enduring a slow start to the campaign, where he was mostly a benchwarmer, the Frenchman has established himself as a vital cog in Diego Simeone’s defensive unit.

It seems Lenglet has capitalised on Robin Le Normand’s injury brilliantly, showcasing a form that has not been seen since his time at Sevilla.

In light of Lenglet’s brilliant performances, of late, Atletico Madrid are strongly considering the possibility of securing his services on a permanent deal.

Barcelona set price-tag for Lenglet

In light of Atletico’s desire to sign Lenglet, a recent report from Fichajes has offered more insights into the future of the Frenchman.

It appears Lenglet is one of three defenders Simeone has requested to the Atleti board, as the Argentine coach looks to shore up his ranks in defence.

Barcelona, for their part, are ready to part ways with Lenglet but have set a price tag of around €15-20 million.

It must be noted that Atletico Madrid presently do not hold any purchase clause as part of Lenglet’s loan deal. Hence, the Rojiblancos must reach an agreement with Barça if they are to sign the former Sevilla defender.

Lenglet’s potential exit could go a long way in alleviating some of the stress on Barça’s balance sheet. In fact, any inflow coming in from the sale could be a bonus for the club.

That is because Barcelona, not too long ago, were considering the possibility of terminating the contract of the Frenchman, which does not expire until 2026.

A move to Atletico Madrid, therefore, can not only bring in fresh revenue to Barça’s coffers but also free up space on the wage bill.
