Barcelona weighing up £40m move for Marcus Rashford | OneFootball

Barcelona are among the clubs informed on the conditions of a deal to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

Rashford will return to Manchester United this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old scored four times and provided six assists in all competitions for Villa, who maintain an option to sign Rashford for a fee of £40m.

United have made that £40m fee available to all suitors and Rashford is keen to assess all options before making a decision on his future. The plan remains to leave Old Trafford, with the England international not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Barcelona are one of several sides contemplating a deal. The Spanish champions want to add another forward to their frontline and Rashford is a player of interest. Hansi Flick wants to sign a wide player to ease the burden on Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

Earlier this month, sporting director Deco named Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Rashford as potential transfer targets for the Catalan club.

“We like Luis [Díaz], we like [Marcus] Rashford, and we like other players,” Deco told Catalan radio show RAC1.

“Out of respect, talking about players who are under contract with other clubs is complicated. When we go to the market, there are names we know that could improve the team.”

Barcelona pursued a deal to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams last summer, but do not current plan to revisit the deal.

“Nico is a top player,” Deco said. “But last summer Dani Olmo really wanted to come to Barcelona, showed confidence in the project and so made it easier for us. Nico did not do that.”
