Rafa Yuste, vice-president of FC Barcelona, addressed the media ahead of the traditional lunch between the club’s board and that of Borussia Dortmund.

With anticipation building ahead of tonight’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic, the Barça executive shared his confidence in the team’s current form and mindset.

Confidence flowing

“I am happy because we are already in the quarter-finals. Today is the first game of a 180-minute tie and I’m satisfied with how the team is doing and how we are doing. We are in high spirits to do our best and try to reach the semi-finals,” said Yuste.

When asked whether he would like to see Barcelona deliver a performance similar to Arsenal’s dominant win over Real Madrid last night, he responded:

“I would like to win and win well. Yesterday was a good game from Arsenal and I would like to do that but for that, we will have to do very well, it will be difficult, we are playing against a great opponent who have individuals who can be decisive.”

The treble dream

Yuste was also asked about the possibility of winning the treble, given that Barça are at the top in La Liga, in the Copa del Rey final, and the Champions League quarter-final.

“We have to dream. Dreams are always good. We are focused and we would like everything to go well,” said Yuste.

“Flick is a very pragmatic man who knows that today we are playing with our fans and that, if we get a good result and are convincing, we can go to Dortmund with a lot more guarantees,” he added.

Pressed further on whether people at the club are speaking cautiously about a potential treble, he insisted:

“No, nobody is hiding. That’s why we talk about dreaming, and we have to dream, because we are in all three competitions, so why not?”
