Barcelona’s Vice President, Elena Fort, has expressed her frustration over what she sees as an unfairly lenient sanction handed to Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. after his red card incident at Mestalla.
Speaking in an interview with RAC1 (MARCA), Fort voiced her disappointment, claiming the decision was much more lenient than it should have been.
According to the Barcelona board, this treatment highlights a persistent trend where Real Madrid receives more favourable decisions, while Barcelona finds itself penalized more harshly.
Fort pointed out that such leniency is not consistent with how similar situations have been treated, referencing the example of Hansi Flick’s case and suggesting that the disparity in sanctions is clear.
“This shows what Barça faces every day, it is not proportional if compared to what Hansi Flick received,” she noted.

In addition to addressing Vinicius’ punishment, Fort also commented on the ongoing situation surrounding Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
There have been reports that the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) may issue a precautionary measure in favour of the Barcelona players, though the club has yet to receive any official notification.
She confirmed that the club is still waiting for a formal resolution.
“We have not received any official notification from the CSD regarding the precautionary measure.”
Despite this, she expressed confidence in Barcelona’s position and hopes the situation will be resolved quickly, even wishing that Olmo and Victor could return to play immediately.
However, she also made it clear that the club is frustrated by what they perceive as inconsistent treatment by LaLiga, and they are patiently waiting for a judicial decision on the matter.
“News travels very quickly, what is certain is that we believe we are right and we hope that this news is fulfilled.
“What we would like is for them to play today. We do not understand the treatment by La Liga, but we will wait for the judicial resolution.”

When asked about Barcelona’s handling of the registration process for both players, Fort denied any claims that the club had delayed registration and was now facing consequences as a result.
“It is not true that we have gone to the limit. We have been given a summary trial without having any information about what has happened.”
Fort stressed that the club had adhered strictly to the instructions of the economic regulator and had worked closely with them to ensure compliance.
“We have strictly complied with the instructions of the economic regulator and we have worked hand in hand with it.”
She also noted that the sale of VIP seats, a key part of the process, was presented to the delegated committee in mid-November, ensuring that Barcelona had not rushed into a decision.
“If I remember correctly, the sale of the VIP seats reached the delegated committee in mid-November. We do not improvise,” she noted.
