Barcelona starlet snubs €70m offers from Manchester United and Aston Villa | OneFootball

Barcelona had a quiet winter transfer window, with no one joining or leaving Hansi Flick’s first team squad during the month of January. However, that was not for the lack of trying, as the club were keen to bring in Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, although a deal proved to be impossible.

A departure was needed in order to free up the salary space needed to register Rashford, but despite strong efforts being made to push Ansu Fati out of the door, he would not budge – and this was his stance despite being told that head coach Hansi Flick does not count on him for the rest of the season.

Fati was the only player that Barcelona considered for a departure, with Eric Garcia among those to be ruled out despite strong interest from Girona and Como. Another player that was wanted was Fermin Lopez, but he also did not come close to leaving.

As per Sport, both Man United and Aston Villa showed interest in Fermin during the winter transfer window, and the two Premier League sides were willing to reach €70m to offer Barcelona. However, the young midfielder did not entertain any of the proposals that came his way.

Man United have been long-term admirers of Fermin, having also enquired about his availability last summer. However, they were also met with rejection on that occasion. Both Barcelona and the player himself are very keen to remain together, and barring any surprises, they should do so for a while yet.

Earlier this season, Fermin signed a new contract until 2029, and he only considers staying at Barcelona. He has not had as much prominence as he would have liked this season, but he has been decisive when called upon by Flick – and all parties will hope this continues to be the case going forward.
