Barcelona starlet signs extension through 2026 | OneFootball

Another up-and-coming member of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week committed to fresh terms with the club.

The player in question? Álvaro Cortés.

Cortés, for his part, is a 19-year-old stopper, who generally lines out at the heart of defence.

The Spaniard has been on the books of Barcelona since 2021, when he joined from Real Zaragoza, since working his way up to U19 level with the Blaugrana.

Described as a ‘physically powerful, left-footed defender, who is characterized by his good positioning and ball output,’ Cortés is held in high regard behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

All of a Blaugrana persuasion, as a result, will no doubt be delighted to hear of the stopper coming to the decision to stay put.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms on Thursday:

‘FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Álvaro Cortés for the renewal of his contract, which will bind him to the club for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2026.’

It is also confirmed that the plan as things stand is for the Spaniard to make the step up to Barca Atlètic in the near future.
