Barcelona star speaks out on Marc Guiu’s Chelsea switch | OneFootball

A headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Thursday provided his take on the decision of striker Marc Guiu to take his talents to England, with Chelsea.

The name of frontman Guiu has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 18-year-old, amid pressing interest on the part of Premier League giants Chelsea, has come to the decision to bring the Barcelona chapter of his fledgling career to a close.

Chelsea are expected to activate Guiu’s €6 million release clause at some point over the coming days, with a contract agreement between the parties already in place.

The young Spaniard’s decision to move on has since been met with widespread bemusement on the part of the Barcelona fanbase.

Early reports point towards those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou having been left rather taken aback, too.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when the same subject was put to one of Guiu’s fellow up-and-coming talents in Barcelona.

During an interview with Prensa Ibérica, as cited by Diario Sport, Lamine Yamal was asked if he was left ‘surprised’ by his compatriot’s call to move on.

And Lamine went on to respond:

“They are decisions that each person makes. I have spoken to him and he told me that he is fine, at the moment he is thinking about the holidays. In the end, they are decisions that each person makes.”
