A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Sunday been sent back to base in Catalunya’s capital.
The player in question? Dani Olmo.
Midfielder Olmo was for his part on Saturday confirmed to have picked up a problem on the fitness front.
After departing Spain’s Nations League meeting with Serbia prematurely, the 26-year-old’s status to face Switzerland later this evening was thrown up in the air.
“Dani Olmo suffered a strong blow against Serbia, and we don’t know how he feels now. He won’t train with us today,” Spanish boss Luis de la Fuente announced.
And, as alluded to above, as much has indeed proven enough to rule Olmo out of his country’s 2nd outing of the international break.
As per a number of sources on Sunday morning, the summer arrival in Barcelona has flown back to Catalunya, albeit with it noted that Olmo’s injury is not a serious one.
