A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona knocked back a staggering financial offer in favour of staying put at the club this summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Raphinha as the player in question.

Wide-man Raphinha is for his part of course in the midst of a blistering start to the new campaign, capped off by a first-career hat-trick in Barca’s 7-0 drubbing of Real Valladolid prior to the international break.

This comes fresh off yet another summer, though, which saw the Brazilian international heavily linked with a move away from Catalunya’s capital.

Amid the efforts of the Camp Nou brass to bring in Nico Williams from Athletic Club, Raphinha was time and time again tipped to make way for the Euro 2024 winner.

Continuing their relationship has since proven to be the best path forward for club and player alike, but, had the former Leeds United man ultimately opted to move on, he could hardly have been blamed…

This comes amid confirmation of the wage packet put before Raphinha by Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

As per Sport:

‘Raphinha was offered a net fee of 100 million euros: 25 for each of the four seasons he would sign. His contract would expire on June 30, 2028. Financially, it meant quadrupling his income at Barça.’

On top of as much, Barcelona themselves were offered a further €100 million, by way of transfer fee.

It is concluded, though, that whilst the Blaugrana brass were open to a sale, ‘Raphinha’s response was brief: a “no, thank you”.’
