A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Friday climbed to the top of the assist charts at Euro 2024.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine was for his part afforded another start for Spain this evening, in the country’s quarter-final showdown with tournament hosts Germany.
And, once more, the 16-year-old enjoyed an outing to remember.
Though his impact was not quite as keenly felt as in previous games, when it mattered most, Lamine conjured up a moment of much-needed quality.
Cutting in from his berth on the right flank, the Barcelona sensation laid on a perfect pass to Dani Olmo, who picked out the bottom corner of Manuel Neuer’s net with aplomb.
And, in the process, Lamine secured for himself another head-turning individual statistic.
This comes amid confirmation that, owing to his third of the tournament, the Spaniard has moved to the top of the European Championship assist leaderboard, alongside the Netherlands’ Xavi Simons.
