Over the last couple of weeks, Barcelona have been very busy in renewing contracts, and soon, more agreements will be made official. Ronald Araujo and Gerard Martin have already signed new deals in the last seven days, and as many of three of their teammates are also expected to also commit their futures.
Pedri and Gavi have already reached agreements to stay in Catalonia until 2030, extending their current deals by four extra years. If that wasn’t enough for Barcelona supporters, a fifth renewal is also expected to be finalised by the end of this week.
As reported by Jijantes (via Sport), Barcelona are intending to activate the additional 12-month clause in Inigo Martinez’s contract in the next few days. It was already agreed some time ago that the veteran defender would be staying at the club for another season, regardless of whether he reached the number of appearances required to trigger an automatic extension to his current deal.

Martinez’s current contract runs out in less than six months, but it is taken for granted that he will not be leaving Barcelona in the summer. He has impressed club officials this season alongside Pau Cubarsi in the centre of defence, although he is currently out of the team after sustaining an injury in the Spanish Super Cup victory over Real Madrid earlier this month.
Barcelona value Martinez a lot, and Hansi Flick also sees him as an integral part of his plans, even if he is no longer a regular starter after injury now that Ronald Araujo has entered the fray. Given that there are doubts about Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia staying beyond the summer, it does make complete sense for him to stay where he is.
