FC Barcelona have already benefited from transfers involving some of their former players this summer.
Moves involving the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Alex Collado, and Ez Abde have all brought in revenue for the Blaugrana.
Now, another such operation is set to lead to an unexpected windfall for the La Liga champions.
Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Ludovit Reis, a Dutch midfielder of Slovak origin who played for Barcelona’s B team during the 2019/20 season, will bring in some cash for the Catalans.
The 25-year-old is on the verge of being announced as a new signing for Club Brugge, who will pay €6 million to Hamburg. Due to a 25% sell-on clause Barça retained when they sold the player to in 2021, they are entitled to €1.5 million from this deal.
Reis was just 18 when he joined Barcelona from FC Groningen in the summer of 2019. He signed on a three-year deal, extendable by two more seasons. The transfer cost €3.25 million, and his contract included a €100 million release clause.

He arrived with a promising profile, having played 50 official matches for Groningen’s first team between 2017 and 2019, scoring two goals.
However, he only played one season for Barça Atletic, featuring in 25 matches in Segunda Division B during the 2019/20 campaign, without scoring. He was occasionally called up to the first team but never made his debut.
In October 2020, he was loaned to VfL Osnabruck in Germany’s second division, where he completed the season. In June 2021, he was permanently transferred to Hamburg, where he gradually developed and became a key contributor.
Reis played a key role in Hamburg’s successful 2024/25 campaign, which ended with promotion to the Bundesliga. Club Brugge had been tracking him for some time.
Negotiations dragged on as Hamburg, aware of the 25% owed to Barcelona, attempted to raise the asking price to €7.5 million despite already having agreed on €6 million with Brugge.
The German club wanted to net the full €6 million, but the Belgian side refused, and in the end, Hamburg will settle for €4.5 million, with the remaining €1.5 million going to Barcelona.
