Barcelona set conditions for 19-year-old winger’s potential exit this summer – Report | OneFootball

It is always important for FC Barcelona to have players that are willing to fight for opportunities. Those that get complacent or simply give up too early will not make it far at the club either way. For that reason, Barcelona does not tend to force people to stay if they want to leave.

In recent weeks, a lot of rumours have emerged linking a certain promising young talent to a move to RCD Mallorca. That player is none other than Jan Virgili, a promising winger who was originally expected to primarily continue with Barcelona Atletic this season.

However, perhaps due to his exclusion from the official squad that has travelled for the preseason tour to Asia, Virgili’s stance has changed. Moreover, with Mallorca’s coach having reportedly called him as well, perhaps there are various factors to have changed his mind.

That is because, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the player has asked to leave the club this summer and Barcelona are reportedly surprised by his decision. From Virgili’s perspective, the player believes that playing for Barcelona Atletic in the Segunda RFEF does not align with his projection or ambitions right now.

In response to this, the Catalan club will not stand in his way as long as he brings in a suitable offer. As for what would be considered a suitable offer, Barcelona reportedly wants €4 million as a transfer fee for the 19-year-old player and a 50% sell-on clause on top of it to convince them to let him go.

Barcelona continues to value the reserve team

That remains Barça’s stance on Virgili’s exit, and the same thing applies to any young player wanting to leave the club like this. However, others have not yet made such a decision, and Barcelona remains surprised as they believed that the player could eventually find opportunities under Hansi Flick’s leadership.

Yet, La Blaugrana remain convinced that Barcelona Atletic is the gateway to the first team. Many other promising players have gone through the same route, and they are now impressing with the first team already during preseason as well.
