Barcelona rival Arsenal for Luiz Benedetti signing | OneFootball

La Liga champions Barcelona are expressing a keen interest in an emerging gem of South American football.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Luiz Benedetti as the player in question.

Benedetti, for his part, is a 19-year-old central defender, who is currently plying his trade on the books of Brazilian heavyweights Palmeiras.

The youngster is considered a star in the making, long hailed for his abilities on and off the ball alike.

In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to learn of a number of European clubs beginning to sniff around his signature.

As per a report from Sport:

‘All the big clubs in Europe are watching him, including Barça, who have taken good note of his evolution.’

The Blaugrana, however, face competition in the race for Benedetti from the likes of Arsenal and Napoli.

In fact, the former are already understood to have gone as far as to table an opening offer for the breakout stopper.
