Frenkie de Jong has enjoyed a rapid turnaround of fortunes since the turn of the year. From being linked with a departure from Barcelona, the midfielder has become a vital cog in Hansi Flick’s tactical setup.
This, of course, has had a positive bearing on De Jong’s prospects and future at Barcelona, with the club now open to renewing the contract of the Dutch international.
However, that hasn’t stopped other clubs from eyeing a potential move for de Jong, with Manchester United being the club primarily interested in his services.
As a matter of fact, Fichajes reports that Manchester United have even proposed a €65 million offer on the table for Frenkie de Jong.
However, the proposal was quickly shot down by Barcelona, who have no desire to offload their star midfielder in the coming summer.

This is a far cry from the events that transpired in the recent past, where the club were desperate to get rid of the midfielder in order to make space in the team.
Now, the situation has changed completely, with Hansi Flick, in particular, determined to keep hold of De Jong beyond this season.
That said, De Jong’s future at Barcelona is far from secured and a lot will depend on the success of negotiations between the two parties over a new contract.
From Barça’s perspective, a new deal must be signed to prevent De Jong from having the option to leave for free in the summer of 2026.
But if the two clubs fail to reach an agreement over a new deal, Barcelona might have to reconsider their position on the midfielder’s future, perhaps even entertain offers from clubs such as Manchester United.
