In a stunning turn of events, Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has officially broken off contract renewal talks with the German giants, as revealed by SPORT.
This surprising development has instantly reopened the door for interested clubs, particularly Barcelona, who now find themselves in a stronger position to explore the signing of a player they have long admired.
Sane, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has also made a significant personal decision: he will now be represented by Pini Zahavi, the agent who already handles the affairs of Robert Lewandowski, Hansi Flick, and Barcelona-linked Jonathan Tah.
This switch may have far-reaching implications, especially considering Zahavi’s close ties with the Catalan club.
Although Barcelona have not made a formal move yet, they are fully informed of the latest developments. And while nothing concrete has been initiated, the connections between Sane and Barça are not new.

A few transfer windows ago, when Fali Ramadani was still his agent, talks were held between both parties. The move ultimately collapsed due to Bayern’s hefty asking price and Sane’s high salary demands.
But now, with the possibility of a free transfer on the table, the scenario has dramatically shifted in Barça’s favour. Importantly, Flick knows Sane inside out. The two worked together during Flick’s tenure at Bayern Munich.
Until recently, Sane was leaning towards a contract extension at Bayern. In fact, he had agreed to a pay cut to remain in Munich, with a new three-year deal already drafted. However, things fell apart unexpectedly.
Sane has now refused to accept the proposed terms, and Bayern’s management has drawn a line in the sand that they will not raise their offer by even a single euro.
Now, anything is possible. With Zahavi leading negotiations, Sane is expected to be offered to multiple top clubs this summer.
English sides Chelsea and Arsenal have already expressed their interest, but the German winger’s long-standing admiration for Spain, and especially for Barcelona, keeps the La Liga giants firmly in the picture.
