Barcelona reach full agreement with Hansi Flick over renewal after key meeting | OneFootball

FC Barcelona sealed a crucial 4-3 victory over Real Madrid that virtually secured the La Liga title and capped a season already decorated with Supercopa and Copa del Rey triumphs.

That night came with another major development: Hansi Flick’s contract extension is now agreed, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Meeting last night

Following the Clasico at Montjuic, Hansi Flick, joined by his agent Pini Zahavi and a group of friends, dined at Botafumeiro, one of Barcelona’s most renowned restaurants.

While celebrating his fourth win of the season against Real Madrid, the German coach also concluded negotiations on his continuity at the club.

Later in the evening, Barcelona president Joan Laporta joined the dinner, visibly pleased with the result and the team’s imminent league title.

Discussions with Zahavi weeks prior had already laid the groundwork for Flick’s extension. However, a few details remained unresolved until this latest meeting.

Now, full agreement has been reached. Flick, who was under contract until June 2026, has committed to one additional year, taking his stay through to June 2027. There is no optional extension clause included.

As Flick has stated publicly on multiple occasions, he prefers short-term deals that allow him flexibility. At 60, he is not aiming to remain at the elite level for much longer and will assess his future once this new contract expires.

Although the deal is done, Barcelona will wait to make it official until the league title is mathematically secured. After the celebrations, the club will announce Flick’s renewal as head coach until 2027 at a moment deemed most fitting.
