Barcelona reach agreement in principle to renew 17-year-old La Masia prospect | OneFootball

Jofre Torrents is a player who is rated very highly at La Masia and is regarded as the future of the position for the Barcelona first-team setup.

Indeed, the 17-year-old, who is currently a part of the Juvenil A setup, is seen as a player who can be the future first-team left-back for a decade or longer.

Contract extension secured

As such, SPORT reports that Barcelona have an agreement in principle with Jofre Torrents to renew his contract with the club until 2028.

As mentioned earlier, the left-back is held in very high regard at La Masia. He possesses all the qualities required: speed, power, excellent technical skills, defensive solidity, and a strong attacking presence.

Barcelona are investing in Jofre for both the medium and long term, and the left-back is 100% committed to the club of his heart.

The 17-year-old has not lacked offers. He has received very interesting proposals from major clubs in England, Germany, and Italy.

However, the player has not even entertained these offers, as his sole aim is to succeed at Barcelona, just like his generation mates Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, and Marc Bernal.

The left-back is not in a rush and understands that it is fine to wait for opportunities, as Marc Casado did, to break into the elite level.

Currently, Jofre Torrents is recovering from a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for around eight weeks.

This unfortunate injury has delayed his promotion to Barça Atletic. The club’s plan is for him to join the B team under Albert Sanchez once he recovers.

It is even expected that the 17-year-old could be called up to pre-season training with the first team by manager Hansi Flick come summer.
