Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on Ajax’s 21-year-old full-back, Devyne Rensch, as they prepare for next summer’s transfer window, claims Luis Miguelsanz through SPORT.

The club is focused on strengthening its options at full-back, a position manager Hansi Flick feels is lacking depth. Strengthening this area is seen as essential for increasing the squad’s overall competitiveness moving forward.

On the left side, Barcelona had explored the possibility of signing Alphonso Davies, but that move appears unattainable for now. On the right, however, scouts have identified Rensch as a promising option.

Who is Devyne Rensch?

The young defender, who is a product of Ajax’s renowned academy, has shown remarkable development in recent years. His current contract with Ajax is set to expire at the end of the season, making him an attractive option for Barça.

Rensch brings qualities that align well with Barcelona’s playing style. He is fast, effective in offensive situations, and excellent at handling the ball.

As an under-21 international for the Netherlands, he has also gained valuable experience at a young age. While no formal decision has been made yet, his name has been on the radar for several months as a potential signing.

Failed summer attempt

Rensch fits the profile Barça are targeting: a young, dynamic full-back available at a reasonable price who also offers long-term potential.

According to the journalist, the club previously attempted to bring in Marc Pubill, a U21 international from Almeria, but financial constraints prevented the move, even on a loan basis with an option to buy.

Meanwhile, Rensch’s abilities have not gone unnoticed by other clubs, with Premier League sides like Tottenham and Liverpool showing strong interest. This is why Ajax have reportedly offered him a renewal deal to retain his services.

At Barcelona, Jules Kounde is currently the preferred option on the right flank, but Hector Fort has struggled to establish himself under Flick, further underlining the need for reinforcements in this position.
