The issue of injuries is one that has definitely been felt by FC Barcelona this season. However, unlike previous campaigns, Hansi Flick’s team managed to remain competitive despite the setbacks. While there were suddenly a fair few hurdles, Barcelona has more or less remained consistent.

Unfortunately, however, it is never a good sight for the coach or the team to lose any players to injury or be sidelined. Currently, while most of the squad remains available for Barcelona, there are a few defensive players who are not exactly guarantees for the upcoming game.

Ahead of the La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona had their first training session following their most recent game against Sevilla. However, there were two notable absentees whose availability for the next game is consequently uncertain as well.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, both Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen were not available at the training session but the rest of the team trained as per normal. For Hansi Flick, having most of his team available is undoubtedly great news.

However, Araujo’s case is a bit unique considering that he is not officially injured. Despite the injury scare he suffered in the last game, the player has managed to avoid any major injury and is instead only dealing with a bruise that should not take too long to heal.

For the upcoming game, his availability is neither a guarantee nor is it completely ruled out. It remains to be seen how well his recovery goes and only then will a final decision be taken in regards to whether he can play or not

As for the Dane, Andreas Christensen is also nearing a return himself and his absence is not exactly surprising right now. The centre-back is expected to receive the medical green light in the coming days, and it is being reported that the player’s return will undoubtedly help Hansi Flick by providing him with additional options.
