Barcelona plan to offer a new contract to €60 million-rated mainstay | OneFootball

Jules Kounde has been one of the very few players that FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has used in each of their matches this season.

Indeed, the 26-year-old has played 46 matches so far this season, with 43 of them coming as starts, racking up three goals and eight assists.

Despite not being a natural right-back, the French international has made the position his own and established himself as one of the top players in Europe in the role.

Barcelona eager to renew Kounde

As such, journalist Miguel Rico (h/t Carpetas FCB) reports that Barcelona plan on offering a new contract to Kounde and tie down his future at the club.

Indeed, having tied down the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Inigo Martinez to new deals, Kounde appears set to be next in line for Barça.

The French defender’s current contract with the Blaugrana expires in the summer of 2026. Given his consistent performances and supreme fitness levels, the decision does not come as a surprise.

With Chelsea once again showing an interest in Kounde, it makes sense that the club wish to ensure his continuity and not risk letting the player enter the new season with only a year left on his deal.

The 26-year-old former Sevilla star, for his part, is said to be keen on signing a new contract as well.

As such, negotiations could go ahead without any hitches as long as Barcelona are able to resolve their Financial Fair Play problems.

The Blaugrana are planning to bring in a right-back in the summer, but the idea is to sign someone as cover for Kounde as the belief within the club is that there are no better options available on the market.
