Talks between Barcelona and AS Monaco regarding the transfer of Ansu Fati (22) have been dragging on. Despite negotiations starting several weeks ago, they have yet to reach a positive outcome. The heart of the issue, it seems, has been Barcelona’s reticence to sanction a loan move. That has now changed.
In an interview over the weekend, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco opened up the possibility of Fati leaving on a loan deal, rather than on a permanent transfer, as the Catalan club initially preferred.
Foot Mercato now understands that there is momentum behind the move. Barcelona are now prepared to make compromises to ensure that his move to Monaco comes off. There are now discussions over a loan deal with the Principality club playing some, but not all, of the Spaniard’s salary.
With efforts being made to compromise on the sticking points, there is now great optimism that Fati will make the move to the Principality club.
