Barcelona on alert: Athletic Club seal deal for new attacker | OneFootball

The powers that be at Barcelona will no doubt be interested to hear of their counterparts at La Liga rivals Athletic Club, on Friday, securing for themselves a new signing.

This, of course, comes amid the ongoing speculation linking Athletic standout Nico Williams with a move to the Camp Nou.

Whilst the Barca brass continue working towards tying up a personal agreement with Williams’ entourage, those behind the scenes in Bilbao have been active in efforts to bring in reinforcements of their own.

As per a report from El Chiringuito TV, Los Leones have reached an accord with Osasuna, over the signing of Aimar Oroz.

Attacker Oroz, currently on international duty with Spain at the Olympics, is all set to make the move to San Mamés, for a fee in the region of €10 million.

So, what does this mean for Nico Williams, and Barcelona?

The answer is that, as things stand, it is altogether unclear.

Oroz and Nico do not technically play in the same position, with the former therefore unlikely to have been signed as a direct replacement for his compatriot.

It should be noted, though, that Oroz is capable of lining out on the left, having done so on occasion in the past.

It is therefore now simply of a matter of ‘wait and see’ for those of a Barcelona and Athletic Club persuasion alike, as the transfer saga of the summer in Spain continues to rumble on…
