Even though Joao Felix’s contract at Barcelona will expire tomorrow, it is clear that Barcelona want him to continue at Camp Nou.

New Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has informed Felix he wants him to stay at the club, at least for another season.

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona are reportedly working with Atletico Madrid and Jorge Mendes to extend Felix’s loan spell for another season.

However, the forward’s mixed performances this past season, coupled with his poor form in the ongoing Euro 2024 has led many to believe that he may falter at Barça next season.

Flick confident of getting the best out of Felix

Despite fears over his form, SPORT suggests Hansi Flick is confident of getting the best out of the Portuguese international next season.

It is no secret that Flick is a huge admirer of Joao Felix. He even wanted to sign the forward during his time at Bayern Munich.

Now at Barcelona, he will have the opportunity to work with the former Benfica star, who scored ten goals this past season.

A game of trust

Looking back at his career, Joao Felix has struggled with trust ever since leaving SL Benfica. He was not one of Diego Simeone’s favourite players at Atletico Madrid while former Barcelona boss Xavi did not even want to sign him last summer.

But that could change under the leadership of Flick. The German tactician believes Felix is a player who can make a difference in the final third.

Flick is keen on utilising the Portuguese international’s enormous talent. His versatility in the final third, after all, could be of massive help for Barcelona, who do require depth in the attacking unit.
