FC Barcelona seem to have made ambitious plans for the summer transfer window and have already started working towards the same. The Catalan club has all but finalised the poaching of Joan Garcia from local rivals, Espanyol.
The 24-year-old Spanish shot-stopper was the best player in his position in the league last season, and it is a huge coup that Barcelona have managed to convince him to join Hansi Flick’s team for the upcoming season and beyond.
However, it looks like the Catalan club is just getting started. In what has been a blast from the past, Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, following up on the saga last summer.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, the 22-year-old Spaniard has leapfrogged Liverpool star Luis Diaz as the priority target for the left-wing position for Barcelona, due to his age and the fact that he has an attainable release clause.
Liverpool have almost seemed unwilling to negotiate an exit for Diaz, and at 28, he is at a much older age than the young Spaniard. To sign Nico Williams, though, Barcelona could trigger his €58m release clause and amortize it over many years.
The 22-year-old Spaniard was heavily linked with Barcelona last summer, but on that occasion, it was the player who turned down the transfer in favor of staying at Bilbao. This time around, Nico himself has reached out to the Catalan club to make this move happen.

If Nico were to come to Barcelona this summer, he would be joining his partner-in-crime, Lamine Yamal, with whom he has forged an excellent partnership for the Spanish national team. The duo on two wings could wreak havoc for the Catalan club.
It all comes down to Barcelona’s FFP situation and if they are able to trigger his release clause and also, register him for La Liga for the upcoming season. The next few weeks would provide a clearer picture of this saga. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
