Those behind the scenes at La Liga champions Barcelona have been left ‘surprised’ by the call of youngster Jan Virgili to depart the club this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have this week provided an insight into the situation.
The name of winger Virgili has of course emerged as a prominent one in the transfer chatter surrounding Barcelona over recent days.
This comes amid the understanding that, after a stellar showing with Spain at the U19 European Championships this summer, the starlet has emerged as a leading transfer target on the part of RCD Mallorca.
Not only that, but Virgili, facing up to a season in Spain’s 4th tier following Barca Atlètic’s shock relegation, is said to have made clear his readiness to make the move to Son Moix.
And as alluded to above, this stance has left the board at the Camp Nou less than impressed.
As per a report from MD:
‘Barcelona have been surprised by Virgili’s decision to leave. They value Virgili highly, but if he wants to leave and doesn’t appreciate what it’s like to be in the lower echelons of Barça’s first team, then he should bring an offer that satisfies the club and his departure will be facilitated.’
