Barcelona keeping an eye on 27-year-old Tottenham winger target admired by Hansi Flick – Report | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have been working on signings all throughout the summer transfer window so far. For the Catalan club, it is simply crucial to reinvest in the squad and make it even more competitive. However, certain targets and profiles have proven to be difficult to sign for Barcelona.

While some targets are easily manageable, with the likes of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia arriving this summer, others have proven to be far more troublesome. One great example of this was the Nico Williams case, as that operation ended up being a complete waste of time.

Still, Barcelona remain fully occupied with their objective to reinforce the team somehow. In that regard, the arrival of a new left-winger is something that La Blaugrana are fully focused on and are still looking at various targets.

Barcelona and Hansi Flick now eyeing Lookman

According to SPORT, however, a new name could now have possibly intrigued La Blaugrana as well. Ademola Lookman, aged 27, is a Nigerian winger who currently plays for Serie A side Atalanta but is now being eyed by Barcelona as well.

Reportedly, he is appreciated by Hansi Flick due to the profile that he has, and the Barcelona coach is reportedly a fan of the player as well. Moreover, the same report claims that Atalanta would now be willing to let go of him for less than €50 million as well, and that is a price that could appeal to Barça.

Possible issues with his agency due to Ter Stegen’s case

Even the player himself has reportedly been looking to make that jump to an elite side in the UEFA Champions League. Barcelona would prove to be exactly the kind of destination that he would want, but relations with his agents have reportedly become strained due to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s current status.

Since both of those players share the same representatives, Ter Stegen’s entire problem at Barcelona could translate towards an operation concerning Lookman as well. Considering possible tensions between the club and said agency, it might be too early to dream of smooth negotiations.

Tottenham Hotspur also want the winger

Interestingly, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly quite serious about signing him. Moreover, considering the financial power of the English clubs, this could be a battle that Barcelona may want to be extra cautious about.

As of right now, however, Barcelona are simply monitoring the situation and are not yet certain about making a concrete move for the player just yet. Still, with his contract ending in 2027 and Atalanta reportedly open to negotiations with a reasonable asking price, it might just be a situation that the Catalan club would want to further assess.

At the same time, the club is still linked to other targets as well. AC Milan star Rafael Leao is reportedly still on the club’s radar, and the Catalan giants have also reportedly engaged in talks with Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford.
