FC Barcelona continue to keep their eyes on young talent with promise across the globe as seen by their interest in Cardoso Varela and their pursuit of Roony Bardghji, who is all set to join the club.
While Deco & co. continue to work to strengthen the first-team squad, exciting youth prospects are also monitored constantly by the club to bolster the academy ranks.
As such, MARCA reports that Barcelona are in advanced negotiations to sign one of the brightest emerging talents from the new generation of Brazilian football.
The player in question is Ze Lucas, a midfielder for Sport Recife. Born in 2008, he is the captain of Brazil’s U17 national team and a South American champion at that level.

The exciting midfielder is currently a starter in the Brazilian Serie A for Sport Recife, with 17 senior appearances under his belt, all at just 17 years of age.
Ze Lucas is widely regarded as one of the standout names among South American players in his age group.
The teenager signed a new three-year contract with Sport earlier this year and remains tied down until 2028.
However, talks between Barcelona and their counterparts in Brazil have progressed significantly in recent weeks, and a positive outcome is expected soon.
Even if the deal is closed, Ze Lucas will have to wait until next year, when he turns 18, to move to Europe.
