Alejandro Balde will reach a significant milestone in his career tomorrow when he plays his 100th match for FC Barcelona in their upcoming fixture against Leganes.
The Blaugrana are all set to lock horns with Leganes at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Sunday night, and Balde, who is pretty much a certain starter at left-back, will make his 100th appearance for the first team if he features.
Balde came through the ranks at the famed La Masia academy, and has quickly become an integral part of the team.
The young Spaniard joined Barcelona’s youth system at the age of eight and made his way through the various age groups, impressing coaches with his pace, technical ability, and tactical awareness.
The 21-year-old’s breakthrough into the senior squad came in 2021 when he made his debut for the first team under then-manager Ronald Koeman, featuring in a UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

Since then, Balde’s development has been remarkable. He steadily earned his place in the team under Xavi Hernandez and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the top left-backs in Europe.
The 21-year-old’s attacking contributions, natural talent and composure on the ball have made him a key player for Barcelona, especially with his explosive runs down the wing and precise crosses, although there are some concerns about the defensive side of his game.
The young La Masia gem has featured 99 times thus far for the Blaugrana, racking up two goals and 11 assists.
Balde’s rise has been a testament to his hard work, dedication, and consistency. His 100th appearance for Barça represents not just a personal achievement, but also a sign of the club’s faith in his abilities.
The youngster signed a new long-term contract with the Catalans last year, committing himself to the club until 2028.
At just 20 years old, the future looks incredibly bright for the talented full-back, and tomorrow’s match against Leganes marks another important step in his journey at Barcelona.
