Alarm bells were ringing in the Barcelona camp last night when captain and key defender Ronald Araujo had to come off during the game against Sevilla.
The Uruguayan international had already missed most of the first half of the season with an injury and appeared set for another spell on the sidelines due to an ankle problem he picked up at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday.
In fact, early reports suggested that the 25-year-old club captain could be set for three weeks out of action following his ankle injury.
However, according to the latest update from Gerard Romero, Barcelona can breathe a sigh of relief as Araujo’s injury is not believed to be a serious issue.
Indeed, the Uruguayan centre-back has no major problem with his ankle and is only suffering from inflammation in his ankle due to the bruise he sustained during yesterday’s match.

The report further goes on to add that it is not entirely ruled out that Araujo could be available to face Rayo Vallecano in La Liga next Monday.
This development will come as a huge relief for Hansi Flick & co., considering that they were already without Araujo for a majority of the season and had welcomed him back into the squad only a couple of months back.
The centre-back has not always looked comfortable in Flick’s system at Barcelona this season but is an important player on the pitch and in the locker room.
So, his injury being nothing major will be seen as a boost, although his availability against Rayo Vallecano remains a doubt even if not entirely ruled out.
