Barcelona have organised a quiet event today at the Spotify Camp Nou offices to mark Lamine Yamal’s contract renewal and the unveiling of his new number.

Unlike the first time he signed his deal back on May 27th, this event is much more personal. This time, Yamal’s entire family will be there, including his grandmother Fatima and his brother Keyne.

The idea is to make the moment memorable for the youngster, who has just stepped into adulthood.

Even though the new contract is already official, the club wanted to create a warm, family-focused ceremony to celebrate it properly, reports Mundo Deportivo.

His deal now ties him to Barça until June 2031, and he is already considered one of the highest-paid young players in the squad.

After finishing his morning training session at Ciutat Esportiva, Yamal will head straight to Camp Nou for the signing.

This will be the first time fans and the media will see the traditional photo with club president Joan Laporta holding the ‘2031’ jersey.

One of the biggest announcements today will be about Yamal’s new shirt number. Barcelona have decided that he will wear the iconic number 10 shirt for the upcoming season.

Ansu Fati had previously worn it, but since his move to AS Monaco on loan, the number became vacant.

Yamal himself had hinted at this change before the season started. He shared photos on Instagram of legends like Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi, all of whom famously wore the number 10 at Barça.

Initially, Barcelona had planned to open this event to the media and tie it to the launch of their new home shirt, which hit stores recently.

However, the club feared the focus would shift to recent party-related controversies involving Yamal. To avoid unwanted headlines, they decided to keep today’s event private and focus fully on celebrating his renewal.
