Barcelona and Bayern Munich have shared transfer targets in the forward department this season as both European giants look to improve their depth in the left-wing position.
Nico Williams and Luis Diaz were joint targets for both clubs, and while the former is no longer on the market after his unexpected renewal with Athletic Club, Diaz continues to be a target for both sides.
Bayern Munich, in recent weeks, have seemingly been ahead of the Blaugrana in the Colombian star’s signing and reportedly even reached an agreement to sign him.
However, Liverpool’s firm demands and reluctance to sell have complicated the situation.
As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent report, Bayern Munich are now beginning to identify new targets for the summer and their distraction towards newer profiles could reopen the door for Barcelona to take over on the Diaz front.
Indeed, the Bavarians have shown a strong interest in signing Nick Woltemade and Leandro Trossard in recent weeks.

The latter, in fact, plays in the same position as Diaz and could thus mean Bayern Munich are losing interest in the Liverpool star.
The news arrives as a positive update for the Barcelona offices for it signals the possible departure of a serious competitor in the forward’s signing.
Concurrently, however, it also emphasises the resistance Liverpool are putting up and how signing Diaz will neither be easy nor economical.
The Catalans, for their part, have shown interest in Marcus Rashford as a viable alternative as well and the Manchester United star could arrive on a handy loan deal. It remains to be seen whose signing they pursue in the coming weeks.
