Barcelona’s recent 1-0 defeat at home to Leganes was a bitter pill to swallow, but the pain was compounded by an injury to their star forward, Lamine Yamal.
In the 15th minute, Yamal was on the receiving end of a harsh tackle by Neyou, targeting his right ankle – an area already plagued by injury this season.
Despite the evident discomfort, Yamal stayed on the pitch for another fifty minutes, even after being assessed at half-time.
His performance was subdued; he was not his usual dynamic self, shying away from the ball and shifting from his customary right-wing position to a less effective central role.
According to Diario AS, Yamal is scheduled for further medical tests on Monday to evaluate his right ankle’s condition.

This injury is particularly concerning as it follows a previous grade one syndesmosis injury to the same ankle sustained during a match against Red Star on November 6.
That injury initially sidelined him for two to three weeks, but he ended up missing crucial games against Real Sociedad, Celta de Vigo, and Brest.
With the high-stakes match against Atletico Madrid looming less than a week away, marking the last game of 2024, Barcelona’s hopes of having Yamal in the lineup are dimmed.
The club is bracing for the possibility that he might not recover in time for this pivotal encounter.
Yamal’s fresh absence could prove to be a huge blow for Barça, especially considering the way the club have performed without his services.
