Barcelona fans unveil new Wojciech Szczęsny chant | OneFootball

The home crowd in attendance at La Liga giants Barcelona’s meeting with Benfica this evening made use of a new chant in recognition of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.

Barcelona, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.

After triumphing by a goal to nil in Lisbon in the tie’s opener last week, the Blaugrana welcomed Benfica to Catalunya’s capital, for a Champions League Last-16 return leg clash.

And, when all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops secured for themselves a spot in the quarter-finals of European football’s premiere club competition.

This came owing to a 3-1 triumph, masterminded by attacking duo Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal.

At the other end, though, keeping alive his personal run of games unbeaten since first pulling on the colours of Barcelona earlier this year was the aforementioned Wojciech Szczęsny.

And as alluded to above, making clear their appreciation for such efforts (in a somewhat unusual manner) were the Blaugrana faithful.

During the 2nd-half at Montjuïc on Tuesday, chants of ‘Szczęsny fumador! Szczęsny fumador!’ (Szczęsny smoker) were heard booming around the stadium.

This comes in reference to the shot-stopper’s activities away from the pitch, with Szczęsny having been known to enjoy a cigarette on occasion in his private life.
