Fans of La Liga giants Barcelona have reason to celebrate on Tuesday evening.

This comes amid confirmation that a total deal is now in place for the club’s first high-profile signing of the summer.

The player primed to take his talents to Catalunya’s capital? Joan García.

Barcelona’s pursuit of goalkeeper Joan has of course been Spanish football’s worst-kept secret for several weeks now.

After Deco and co. made the call to seek out reinforcements between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad, Espanyol’s no.1 was quickly identified as a priority target.

Negotiations, in turn, have been ongoing between the parties since last month, with a view to Barca activating the release clause in Joan’s contract.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the news which those of a Blaugrana persuasion have been awaiting has finally come to the fore.

As per a report on the part of transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Joan García to Barcelona, here we go! Documents are now in place with Spanish GK. Release clause to be paid in the next days, could happen next week but all contracts are now ready. Joan García will sign a five year deal at Barça, all set.’
