Barcelona midfielder Gavi has shown his commitment to the club by cutting short his holiday and reporting back to training ahead of schedule, claims a report from SPORT.

While the official return date for the squad is July 13, Gavi joined a handful of other early birds like Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen by showing up two days in advance.

This early return underlines the importance of the upcoming season for Gavi. After a transitional year in which he struggled for regular minutes under Hansi Flick, the 20-year-old knows he must now step up and prove he belongs in the starting XI.

Competition is fierce in midfield, and for now, it appears Gavi will have to fight from behind, likely starting the campaign on the bench.

Pressure on Gavi

Gavi’s task becomes even more difficult if Barcelona bring in a new left-winger this summer. A signing in that position could trigger a tactical switch, with Raphinha potentially being shifted into an attacking midfield role.

This would only make the battle for minutes in midfield even tougher.

Despite this, the club remains firm in its stance that Gavi is not for sale. Barcelona are open to letting go of a midfielder during this transfer window, but Gavi is not part of that conversation.

The club values him highly, and the player himself is determined to stay and succeed at Camp Nou.

At just 20, Gavi would be a guaranteed starter at many top clubs across Europe. But his focus is to break through at Barça once again.

He has started the pre-season with full intensity, and while his road won’t be easy, his early return is a strong signal that he’s ready to fight for his place. The next few months could define his future at the club.
