Despite losing the likes of Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez to injuries over the past ten days or so, Barcelona have also been greeted with some good news on the fitness issues front.

After all, last week saw the Catalans welcome midfield prodigy back in group training after ten months out due to the ACL injury he suffered in November 2023.

The 20-year-old has started working normally with the group and is inching closer and closer to making a comeback on the field.

Gavi could return before the international break

Earlier in the week, reports suggested that Barcelona had identified the game against Sevilla on October 20, right after the international break, as a possible date for Gavi’s return.

However, now, SPORT has brought forward an update which claims that the La Masia sensation could be back on the field even before the international break arrives.

As mentioned earlier, Gavi began working with the group almost ten days ago and has been slowly integrated into training sessions by manager Hansi Flick.

The 20-year-old, along with fellow injury returnee Frenkie de Jong, has been training normally when it comes to activities without any physical contact such as rondos and activation etc., but they are not involved in training matches as of yet.

Barça are proceeding with great caution with Gavi given the nature of his injury and the time he has been out for. Each of his activities in training sessions is monitored very carefully and the sensations are very positive thus far.

While De Jong could be closer to a return, Gavi is not far behind and if things go well, he could be back in action before the international break arrives in the first week of October.

However, Barcelona are not in a rush and would be prepared to wait for an extra couple of weeks if they feel that would be in the best interests of the young fan-favourite. Either way, it will not be long before Gavi is back on the field for the Blaugrana.
