Barcelona eyeing Arsenal star as Frenkie de Jong replacement | OneFootball

The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have earmarked Arsenal star Thomas Partey as a potential signing for the summer of 2025.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barcelona, it is understood, are on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park with a view to next season.

Amid mounting chatter that Frenkie de Jong could be sent on his way owing to an ongoing contract standoff between the parties, Deco and co. have begun seeking out a potential replacement for the Dutchman on the market.

And one such option to have come to the fore over recent weeks comes in the form of the aforementioned Thomas Partey.

Ghanaian international Partey, for his part, is due to become a free agent next summer, upon the expiration of his Arsenal contract.

And, as per MD:

‘Former Atlético player from 2015 to 2020, Deco has valued him for a long time and is aware of his situation, although Arsenal is bidding strongly to retain him.’
