Barcelona’s activity in the summer transfer window has been limited so far, but with just under two months remaining before the window closes, the Catalan giants are still determined to revamp their squad.

At the forefront of Barcelona’s transfer dealings is sporting director Deco. He has been entrusted with the task of overseeing departures and securing key signings to strengthen the team’s competitive edge for the upcoming season.

As such, Deco’s recent trip to Portugal has led to much speculation. Initially rumoured to be negotiating with FC Porto for Mika Faye, Deco denied these claims upon arrival.

Catching up with Jorge Mendes

While Deco claimed that his visit was for family reasons, SPORT has confirmed that the Barcelona director’s stay in Portugal included a meeting with superagent Jorge Mendes, who represents multiple Barça players.

Although Barça’s financial circumstances have not changed substantially in recent weeks, there are still a number of unresolved issues.

Barcelona announced that Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo will not continue with the club after their loan deals expired, but the Blaugranes are still attempting to sign them on successive loans.

Additionally, Ansu Fati’s future is uncertain as he wishes to stay, but Barça’s initial plan is for him to leave.

Reports have argued that Barcelona are beginning to worry about Ansu Fati’s status because, despite not having him in their plans for the upcoming campaign, the team has not received any bids for the player.

Meanwhile, Barça are hoping to complete La Masia starlet Guille Fernandez’s contract renewal as well, with the teenage sensation’s deal running out on June 30.

Time will tell how the situations develop, but Mendes’ influence on various clubs and players could also be an asset for the Catalan giants in securing player exits and new signings.
