It was revealed yesterday that Gavi has picked up a knee injury in training and was, therefore, going to miss Sunday’s clash against Rayo Vallecano.

But what seemed like a routine injury has turned out to be a serious cause for concern for Barcelona, who are fearing that the player may have picked up yet another serious knock.

A recent report from Diario AS journalist Javi Miguel has offered a comprehensive update on Gavi’s injury, painting a rather grim picture.

Gavi set to miss national team action

As per the report, Barcelona are now extremely concerned with Gavi after the midfielder went through tests to determine the extent of his injury on Friday.

Gavi was immediately ruled out of the upcoming game against Rayo Vallecano, but it appears the player will miss more matches.

Javi Miguel adds that the Barcelona star won’t be travelling with the Spanish national team either, despite getting selected for the upcoming international break.

It appears the youngster picked up a knock in the same right knee that was operated on a couple of years ago, making things all the more difficult.

As things stand, Barcelona can only wait and watch as they look to determine the true extent of Gavi’s injury and how long he could be sidelined for.

It will be interesting to see if Gavi’s injury has any impact on Fermin Lopez’s future at the club, considering the fact that the Chelsea-linked attacker could become an important player for Hansi Flick if Gavi serves yet another spell on the sidelines.

Recent reports suggest Fermin is set to remain at Barcelona, declining Chelsea in the process. However, it must be noted that neither of these two players have been able to feature prominently during Barcelona’s first two matches.
