Barcelona bound? Bayer Leverkusen star confirms summer exit | OneFootball

Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah has this week at long last announced his imminent departure from the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Defender Tah’s name has of course long been a prominent one in the transfer headlines across Europe.

This comes after widespread reports surfaced, revealing the German international’s intention to depart the BayArena upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

And as alluded to above, this week, Tah has himself finally confirmed as much.

Speaking during an interview with Kicker, as cited by Diario Sport, the 29-year-old explained:

“I decided some time ago not to stay here and the club already knows it. As always I have communicated it openly and everything is already clear.”

Such an admission on Tah’s part will no doubt pique attentions at a number of leading clubs, none more so than Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have long been named as keen admirers of the stopper’s talents, with Hansi Flick understood to be eager to add Tah to his defensive options for next season.

The understanding is that for as much to come to fruition, one of Barca’s current central defenders – Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araújo or Eric García – would need to be moved on.

Tah, for his part, is unwavering in his hopes of making the move to Catalunya’s capital, with it now up to Deco and his team to make it happen.
