The board at La Liga champions Barcelona are giving priority to the registration of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny for the club’s next outing.

Manager Hansi Flick, however, is the opinion that defender Gerard Martín should be the leading candidate to be registered in time to face Levante.

That’s according to Marca, who have provided a fresh insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.

The registration efforts of the Barcelona brass of course dominated the headlines in the buildup to the club’s season opener this past weekend.

This came after Deco and co. were forced to work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that summer signings Joan García and Marcus Rashford were able to play their part against Mallorca.

The issue, however, remains far from resolved.

A number of others remain unregistered ahead of the Blaugrana’s 2nd outing of the campaign against Levante this coming weekend.

And as alluded to above, with as much in mind, something of a difference in opinions is understood to have come to the fore in Catalunya’s capital.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Szczęsny’s registration for next Saturday’s match against Levante is a priority, but the coaching staff is pushing for Gerard Martín.’

Whilst Hansi Flick fully appreciates the talents of shot-stopper Szczęsny, the German views the versatility provided by defender Martín as absolutely crucial to his planning.

It now remains to be seen who wins out in this battle of wills…
