Barcelona agreement with Joan Garcia over long-term contract ‘almost done’ – Romano | OneFootball

In a major development, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that FC Barcelona appear all set to close the signing of Joan Garcia.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper from RCD Espanyol has been at the top of the Blaugrana’s wishlist for the past few weeks now.

Despite there being plenty of competition as well as concerns about a move from Espanyol to Barça, it appears that the La Liga champions have managed to convince Garcia.

Agreement almost done

Indeed, Romano states that the agreement between Barcelona and Garcia over a long-term contract is now very advanced and can be considered ‘almost done’.

Negotiations are underway with the player and his camp to secure a full agreement and the expectation is that they will receive the green light in the coming days.

Barcelona are eager to wrap up the deal at the earliest possible to stave off the threat of Premier League clubs interested in the Spaniard.

As has previously been reported, the Blaugrana have put forth a five-year contract proposal for Garcia.

His concerns regarding the starting position in goal, owing to Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s presence, also seem to have been addressed by Deco and Hansi Flick.

Now, what remains is for the two parties to reach a full agreement over the contract, following which Barcelona will pay his €25 million release clause with Espanyol powerless to stop the deal.

It seems that the La Liga champions are inching closer to their first big signing of the summer.
