The Football Association have confirmed the various details ahead of the draw for the FA Cup quarter-final, with fifth round ties taking place over the course of the weekend.
Pep Guardiola and his players booked their place in the last-eight of the tournament via a 3-1 comeback win over Championship side Plymouth Argyle, thanks to a brace from Nico O’Reilly either side of half-time, and an insurance strike from Kevin De Bruyne.
Victory over Miron Muslic’s men – who had progressed into round five via wins over Brentford and Liverpool – followed victory over Leyton Orient in round four, in a similarly stern test of the Premier League champions’ credentials.
And all of that was preceded by Salford City in the opening round of Manchester City’s campaign, as a James McAtee hat-trick made up part of an 8-0 rout over the League Two side at the Etihad Stadium.
The FA Cup is City’s only chance at silverware this campaign, having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup to Tottenham, exiting the UEFA Champions League prior to the last-16 courtesy of Real Madrid, and being largely ruled out of the Premier League title race in December.
Ahead of the final run of fixtures in the fifth round of the FA Cup, here is everything you need to know ahead of the quarter-final draw in this season’s competition!
The draw for the FA Cup quarter-final will be made on Sunday 2 March 2025, following the fifth-round tie between Manchester United and Fulham – which is scheduled to kick-off at 16:30 (UK).
Fans can watch the draw via the BBC’s live coverage in the UK, or through their official social media channels on X, Instagram and Facebook.

Having defeated Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round of this season’s FA Cup, Manchester City will be ball number 7.
1. Preston North End
2. Aston Villa
3. Crystal Palace
4. Manchester United or Fulham
5. Brighton & Hove Albion
6. AFC Bournemouth
7. Manchester City
8. Nottingham Forest or Ipswich Town
The 2024/25 FA Cup quarter-final will take place across the weekend of Saturday 29 March 2025, with winning clubs in the quarter-final collecting £450,000 from the competition prize fund.
For Manchester City, that means that their tie would be the first contest after the international break in March, and come before a midweek clash against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City in the Premier League on Wednesday 2 April.
